FALL FESTIVAL: NOV. 1st. 11 AM to 3 PM

Hey everyone, we're gearing up for our annual fall festival here at His Barn! We've got all sorts of fun stuff lined up for the event! Free entry, free music, free hot dogs! Pony rides, food, games, face painting & more.
Mark Rodenhauser, from The Cornerstone Ranch, will be back in the round pen again for a 1:00 Unbridled Presentation, as he shares some of the similarities between a horse's walk with his trainer and our walk with our God. Powerful. Life changing. A must see!!!
The festival is in need of some donations to help keep the cost of the event as low as possible. Our goal has always been for a family to be able to come out with a roll of quarters and enjoy a day of quality time with each other!
We are in need of:
water
pop (soda, as some of you may call it!)
baked goods for the bake sale
napkins
hot dog buns
hot chocolate
call us at the farm to let us know if you can help in any way!
A Giant thank you to Corban Christian Academy for sponsoring this year's fall festival!

Horses For Sale!!!

i thought this should have it's own post : )

we have quite a few horses for sale. they've all been teaching lessons for us for years. they are honest, child safe trail horses that still want to work. we have everything from 7 year olds to 30 year olds - all still able to be ridden. a few of the older ones need a little extra care, but it's definitely worth it when you look at what they have to offer a family!

please contact us if you are interested!

:)

What's Next?!?!

Alright everyone....the plan right now is to try to keep my fingers in the world of teaching & horses. i still need a little time & alot of prayer in order to figure out a schedule that will work! i just started working outside the home this week. i'm now an employee of the Carolina Country Store (a tack, feed and so much more store 2 miles down the road). brian has also started part time at a new job along with his job with Poteet-Allen Constr. (who is downsizing and only giving him part time hours right now). i'm not real sure what the next step in our life is but i can feel God's presence and power in it all more than i ever have before!!!! so i know He's with us! :)

We need help selling some of these horses though. it's breaking my heart, but it has to be done. we can't really afford to take care of them now that they are not working and earning their their own keep. they're honest, kid safe trail horses that want to keep doing their job so if anyone out there is looking for a horse, we've got some for sale! :) we've got 8 year olds to 30 year olds - all able to be ridden :)

thank you again for all of your love & support!!!!

ANOTHER WEEK OF CAMP!

Thank you to all of you who are praying with us and showing us your support in so many ways!!! God is so good it just makes me laugh out loud sometimes! : ) We still are unsure where His Barn is headed, but we're working on some ideas. We'll keep you all posted as we figure it all out!

We do know that we're offering ONE MORE WEEK OF CAMP! August 11 - 15 is available for registration. Same price of $275 for the week and same ages of 8-13 for a fun filled week of horses, God, friends and food!!!

We are also still booking trail rides as long as we have enough horses to keep working : )

We look forward to hearing from you soon!!!!

His Barn Closing.

We've spent so much time & prayer on this subject, but it's still hard to write! The time, energy, finances, and every other resource we've poured into this place have taken a heavy toll. Many factors have contributed to this decision, and we are quite certain that God is leading us into a place that will help us to rearrange our priorities in life a little better. It has become so easy over the years to hide our problems in the barn or at work, but in doing such a thing, problems don't resolve themselves. We've made a habit out of using the horses and our "ministry" as an excuse to stay too busy for each other and the God that inspired the dream in the first place! It will be a beautiful day when we learn to value ourselves based on the view our creator has of us, rather than on what we do for the world around us..... God is good, all of the time, and I'm thankful to know that He loves me enough to bring me through the valleys of life so that i can make it to mountain view at the top!

His Barn's last day of regular lessons will be Saturday, June 7, 2008. We'll then host our summer camps till July. We will continue to take out trail rides through august.

That's really all we know right now...... things could change, new ideas could arise, opportunities could present themselves... but today, this is where we are!

Thank you to all of our customers and friends! You are so much more than a number that kept the business running. You are extended family and we feel honored to have been part of your lives for so long!

PONY RIDES!!!

The Beattitudes, teens from our young leadership program (based on the beattitude from the book of Matthew), are holding their own fundraiser today, the 19th from 12:00 to 3:30. They're holding another one the 26th of April from 1:00 to 4:30. Both events are here at the farm and will include PONY RIDES for sale, snacks & chips, along with a bake sale.
These kids plan, organize, advertise and work the entire deal! Each year, the kids involved in the leadership program have the opportunity to attend the horse camp in Pennsylvania that our whole riding program is base on. They have to come up with their own money to do so though! They've held different types of fundraisers each year, and then we sit down and talk about the experience to figure out what could have been done better, what went well, etc. This year we're excited to see how well they communicated, planned, and followed through!!!
Please c'mon out and help us support our young people as they grow into the precious young adults that will be leading our tomorrows! = )

His Barn Cook Out

We will be hosting a relaxed cookout Saturday, April 5, 2008. Brian and I have some announcements to make to our customers/friends and this seems to be the easiest way to do so! Beginning at 6:00 we will provide hot dogs and pizza; you'll need to bring your own drinks and snacks if you want anything else! = )
Anyone who considers themselves a friend of His Barn is welcome!
See you saturday!

Summer Camp is Coming!

Summer is right around the corner and everyone is on the hunt for summer programs. His Barn offers day camps in June & July. Our camps are based on the camp program that our whole program is influenced by in Pennsylvania! Brian & I have had experience with this model of summer camp for about 16 years! This will be our 5th year holding our own. We will register 15-25 campers per week who are then divided into smaller groups according to their age and experience level. Our hope is that kids will be challenged to learn more in their riding skills, as well as socially & spiritually. Our bible studies are based on the simple yet powerful message of the gospel with many opportunities for the kids to ask questions and explore who Jesus Christ wants to be to them!
Whole day camps run from 9-5, and the half day camps are from 9-1. We'll have the actual weeks posted soon but here is a quick run down so you can start comparing!
All camps are for ages 8-13.
the 9-5 camps are $275 and include about 2 hours of barn/riding time each day, horse class, bible study, crafts/games, catered lunches and an afternoon snack.

the 1/2 day camps include 1 1/2 hours of barn/riding time, crafts/games, bible study and a snack. a bagged lunch is required. The cost is $95.

we know that there will be whole day camps in the month of June and the half day camps will be available in July.

As soon as we have the exact weeks nailed down I will get them posted!!!

Back in the saddle!

Welcome back everyone!

We've had a great first week after the long holiday break & we're ready to get back to work! We've made room for more students by putting pony parties on hold until spring. We'll now be teaching lessons all day on Saturdays, along with taking out trail rides. We'll pick the pony parties back up when the sun stays out a little longer a few months down the road!
